Hop Harvest

Hop Harvest

Last night I harvested my hops. I think I may have waited a little too long as more of them have turned brown. I believe a little brown is good, but not all. Out of the three varieties, the hop that produced the most cones was Cascade, which was good because out of all the plants, it was the slowest grower and didn't look too healthy. Mount Hood, the fastest and most healthy grower, produced the least!

The first plate it Cascade, followed by Nugget, and in the top corner, is the Mount Hood. They will dry for a few days, and then I will put them into air tight bags.

UPDATE: on a different note, I entered a picture of Brewer into REI's "Pets in the Great Outdoors Content"; I would appreciate it if you would go click on the link, sign up for an account and click the "Thumbs Up" button on my picture. Voting goes until September 6th, at which point the top 10 go to judges to decide.
