Jeffrey Veen

Jeffrey Veen

Jeffrey Veen gave the keynote speech at lunch on Monday. He was a designer who has worked with Google on their analytics program. He talked about finding useable ways to create data and tell stories with the data. It was quite interesting and he referenced many historic charts, including one from Europe that charted Cholera outbreaks.

I have also learned that my title, "Web Developer", means a lot of different things at other organizations. The majority of the Web Developers I have met are actually Application Developers and work in the IT department.

Dinner last night was "On Our Own", and I found some people in the hotel lobby to go to dinner with. I am learning that the University of Northern Colorado, with 15,000 students (give-er-take a few) is large in comparison to a lot of the schools here. After dinner we went to the Springfield Brewery where the conference was having an afterhours shin-dig. This was a lot of fun and I met a lot of people, although I don't remember many of their names.
