Fort Carson Spartan Race

I joined 16 other members of my Gym down in Fort Carson Army base this morning to run the Spartan Race Sprint. The sprint consisted of around 15 obstacles in between a 4 mile run. We ran it as a group and had a total time of about 2:45.

Official photos will be posted in a few days and as others post photos to Facebook, I will add them here.

Before the Race

Before the Race

A few people are missing from the before picture. Donnie and Bitt were wrapping up Donnie’s arm as he was in a cast from a broken finger.

Here I am on the swinging monkey bars, or a contraption similar. The hand holds rotated so as you went from one to another it spun. It helped that I have long arms as I was able to skip a few of them.

The final obstacle was jumping over the fire. Since we ran the race as a group we were able to all go over the finish line together.

We took a photo at the end of everyone. I was in the wrong place for the majority of the photos from this camera. Many people were taking photos so this one might get replaced later with a better one.

Since there was a mud pit on the course I didn’t take my phone or watch with me. When we crossed the finish line I grabbed my bag from bag check and took a few photos. That is mud in my hair!

The beer at the end of the race was Sierra Nevada, which was unexpected as prior races has been Coors.

After the race we changed out of our muddy clothes and put on fresh ones. We all got a t-shirt for running the race and most of us changed into that.

On Friday I grabbed an extra pair of UNC branded sunglasses that were part of the previous marketing campaign. It was a great idea as they protected by eyes and got covered in mud!
