Last night Brewer and Barley were sleeping on the couch in the loft when Barley fell off. I think Brewer may have startled her or as he stretched (as he does sometimes when he wakes) he may have kicked her off. Barley landed on her front right leg and immediately didn't put weight on it. She didn't yelp or make noise but it was obvious that she was in pain.
Today, Michelle took her to the vet in Fort Collins. Barley has dislocated her elbow and three of the bones are out of place. From the vet's perspective this is rare. They referred us to a specialist at an animal hospital in Loveland.
This evening I hung out with the dogs by the fireplace. Barley has been very lethargic which could be from the pain medication. She hasn't put any weight on the leg.
