Urban Sketching
This morning I woke up early and headed to a coffee shop that was by the University of Portland. There, a group of urban sketchers meet-up and wandered around the farmer's market. There were about 30 people in total that were sketching.
My Sketch
I sat for about 45 minutes and sketched this out. I'm still learning, but I'm quite happy with the results.
Gaea Soul
As I was drawing I heard a cello playing in the background just rocking out. I continued sketching, but a country band soon started to play next to me so I moved over to where the cellist was. As it turned out, he was looping, so he would put down a beat and then loop it as he played on top. It was amazing. I bought both CDs and got a third one free. Pre-Conference Class
The pre-conference sessions started this afternoon at 1pm. I am doing a leadership class with 23 other higher ed professionals.
Voodoo Doughnuts
In the evening the leadership group went to Rock Bottom Brewery for dinner and drinks. Afterwards, a few of us walked over to Voodoo Doughnuts, a well known 24 hour doughnut house in Portland. I had tried to go the previous day at 12pm and 9pm but the line was wrapped around the building. The line was still that long, but it moved quick, plus I had new friends to chat with.
